What is the Learning Triangle?

What is the Learning Triangle?

In a Montessori program, the teacher, the child, and the environment create a learning triangle a complete
prepared atmosphere. Classrooms are orderly and calm, giving the children the opportunity to concentrate
and go about their work independently. The teacher provides guidance as support as the child works at
her/his own pace. The child interacts with the teacher when support and guidance are needed. The child,
through individual choices makes use of what the environment has to offer to aid in their own development.
The teacher prepares the environment to encourage independence, freedom with limits, and sense of order.

"The human being develops with the greatest intensity during the first three years of life. To this period, more
than any other, it is imperative to give active care."
